Pea Protein (Pisum sativum)
Pea protein powder is made by extracting protein from peas (Pisum sativum). Pea contains four major classes of protein (globulin, albumin, prolamin, and glutelin), in which globulin and albumin are major storage proteins in pea seeds. It contains all nine of the essential amino acids that the body cannot produce on its own (histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine). Typically, peas contain 23.1–30.9% protein,1.5–2.0% fat, and minor constituents such as vitamins, phytic acid, saponins, polyphenols, minerals, and oxalates

1. Build Muscle Mass
Study showed that supplementation with pea protein powder increase muscle thickness as compared to placebo. This suggests that pea protein powder is as effective at building muscle mass as more common dairy-based protein powders.
2. Improve Glycaemic Response
The consumption of pea protein reduced postprandial glycaemia and stimulated insulin release in healthy adults with a dose response effect, supporting its role in regulating glycaemic and insulinaemic responses.
Body Composition Impact
Pea protein is an excellent plant-based protein that can help improve body composition by supporting the growth and maintenance of muscle mass
Anti-inflammatory properties
One of the main types of protein from yellow peas is albumin. Albumin, the most abundant circulating protein in the blood, has anti-inflammatory effects and helps protect against cardiovascular disease. Low albumin levels are associated with higher levels of inflammatory markers
Helps reduce age-related muscle loss
Pea protein contains all essential amino acids, can help to reduce one’s risk for extreme age-related muscle mass decline, known as sarcopenia, in conjunction with resistance training.
Antihypertensive
Antihypertensive peptides from pea protein were usually characterized as inhibitors of angiotensin I-converting enzyme, given the essential role of the renin-angiotensin system in regulating blood pressure.
