What this section is

This is Bionutricia’s scientific research centre: a set of structured literature reviews on the ingredients and manufacturing formats we work with. Each review is written to one fixed method, graded against one fixed evidence scale, signed by a named author, read by a second named member of the panel, dated, and referenced to the original studies by DOI.

It is not marketing copy and it is not a claims library. A review states what the published human evidence shows, where that evidence is thin, and what it does not support. Where the evidence does not support a benefit, the review says so.

How each review is prepared

  1. Subject. One ingredient, one excipient decision or one manufacturing format question is set as the subject, narrow enough to be answered from the published record.
  2. Search. PubMed, the United States National Library of Medicine database, is searched on a stated date using stated search terms. The date and the terms are printed in the review so the search can be repeated.
  3. Selection. Studies in humans are included. Laboratory and animal work is included only as mechanism context and is labelled as such. Records excluded for a stated reason, such as the wrong route of administration or the wrong population, are named rather than quietly dropped.
  4. Assessment. Each included record is assessed from its published abstract. Where a figure, dose, duration or population is reported, it is restated in the abstract’s own wording rather than paraphrased.
  5. Grading. The body of evidence is given one grade on the scale below, with the reason for that grade stated.
  6. Review. A second named member of the panel reads the draft against the cited abstracts. The review date on the page is the date that reading was completed.

The evidence grade on each review

Every review carries one of four grades. This is Bionutricia’s own four-level scale. It is not the formal GRADE system used in clinical guideline development, and it is not a regulatory classification.

  • Grade A — Consistent findings from more than one randomised controlled trial in humans, or from a meta-analysis of such trials.
  • Grade B — At least one randomised controlled trial in humans, with material limits on size, duration or population.
  • Grade C — Human evidence only from uncontrolled, open-label or observational studies.
  • Grade D — Laboratory or animal evidence only; no human trial located on the stated search date.

Who writes these reviews

  • Ts. Ng Kuak Ping, Professional Technologist (MBOT) — extraction, processing, standardisation, raw-material quality and manufacturing format.
  • Vitthia Rama Murti, Registered Pharmacist (RPh 15632) — formulation, excipients, stability, tolerability and safety.
  • Dr Yong Yiyi — clinical evidence: human trials, indications, dosing and outcomes.

Each review names its author and its reviewer at the top of the page, with the date the review was completed.

Disclosure of commercial interest

Bionutricia is a contract manufacturer of nutraceutical and functional food products. We have a direct commercial interest in the ingredients, delivery formats and processes these reviews discuss, and a brand owner reading a review may go on to buy manufacturing from us.

No review on this page is commissioned or paid for by a third party. A review that finds the published evidence weak, inconsistent or absent is published with that finding, on an ingredient we sell. Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing here is a claim that a product treats, prevents or cures any condition.
